My cd player needs a fixin....

everytime i turn it on the drawer auto opens, if you insert cd and close it spins for 10-15 secs and sounds sick then reopens. If you close the drawer without cd it reopens 5 secs later.

any idea's how to fix the issue ?

Some pickups (laser) assemblies are only $15 USD and can be purchased by anyone from numerous online stores. Yes, some are alot more. It depends on the make/model.

Seeing that any dvd player can also play cd's. It probably wouldn't be worth fixing it since a low end dvd player can be purchased from a retail store for about $27 USD.

There are no health risks involved with replacing a pickup in a cd player as long as you disconnect it from power first. The only electric connection to a pickup is 1 ribbon cable or 2 plug-in connectors. They do NOT require more then 5 volts in most pickups.

Speaking from experience with 15+ years in consumer electronic repair.
