i had the distributor cap, rotor, and spark plug wires replaced in my truck, when i went to pick it up, i drove about one block and then my truck started shaking really bad and some noises coming from the engine, i took it back and it turned out that three of the spark plug wires were connected wrong, after the wires were fixed, there was still a small ticking noise, not quite the same as the knocking type that happens in some cars, but more of a tick, sometimes it is a rapid and sometimes every 15-20 seconds, i was wondering if this could be the result of running the truck with the wires connected and and that maybe it will go away, any advice, thanks.

What year truck are we talking about?

You might actually be just hearing the fuel injectors themselves. If you've never listened that hard to your engine, it could be a noise thats always been there and you're just listening harder now. Ticking is usually not a bad sound, could be lifters, injectors, or some other electronic stepper motor. Does the sound changed when cold or warm? Does it increase with RPM?

It will most likely not go away on it's own.

Did you really mean once every 15-20 seconds? Or 15-20 times per second?
