I just installed a ceiling fan in my living room and now my recessed ceiling can lights don't work in the hallway.

When I compelted the fan installation I opened the circuit to make sure the celing fan worked. Then when I turned on the switch for the lights in the hallway, there was a pop noise and spark that came from the elecitical wires that are tucked in the fan. I realized that I neglected to put electrical tape on some of the wire endings and I suspect that some of the wire endings were touching and that is the cause of the issue. Now I'm trying to figure out what I need to do to get the hallway lights to work again.

Any ideas on what I did and how to repair it?

Greetings TS welcome to the Forum !

Those bare wires will do that every time !

Need to get them exposed and away from the Frame or each other. Ya got a direct short there !

Unfortunately, most of the Fans are wired with wire that's just barely large enough to make them operate, and have very little tolerance to a short. There may be damage to that light wire, which is not obvious.

Let's make sure that you've turned the Breaker off at the Panel first, then proceed to check, tape and isolate the problem area.

Re-Set the Breaker, and try it again.

Have a good Day !
