Hello everyone,

I work for a company in South East Alaska, that is putting together a project to help promote the use of wood stoves for home heating versus the use of oil for heating. My job on this project is to put together questions that everyday home owners/ renters have regarding the safety and pricing of wood stove heating elements.
So if you are thinking about converting your home heating system to the use of a wood stove, what questions would you ask before deciding?

Upon receiving your questions I will do the research that is necessary to answer your questions as well as adding it to my final report. Any help that all of you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
SFP

SFP, welcome to the forum I hope you will like it here

I think that's a great idea, now with the oil prices going bananas - But... what would that entail for ecology - would more trees have to be 'killed' for that?

I live in Israel, and hardly need a stove being that 8-9 months of the year it is from pretty warm to unbearably hot. But I hope other members here will react, because this is a very interesting subject

The company that I work for is a sawmill in Alaska. Since he already has approval to do logging here, with out increasing what he currently logs, we will be taking all the waste wood that we cannot turn into lumber and split it for firewood. We are working with the US forest Service and the government bodies in our borough and city. This idea has sparked a lot of hope for our little but growing community. If you know anyone that is thinking about or has thought about this conversion and has many questions, please if you can let me know the questions for my report and so I can work to find the answers.
