Specifically, I wanna get the housepaint off of various parts of solid brass door locks. Thanks.
Decadence is a difficult word to use since it has become little more than a term of abuse applied by critics to anything they do not yet understand or which seems to differ from their moral concepts.

"I`ve found which steel wool is the fastest & easiest way to clean brass. Just steel wool. Cleans off paint & shines it up at the same time.

Of course large drips or brush strokes can often be endlessly removed with a razor scraper.
If their are large areas of thin paint, you can remove the temporarily lock or hinge, respectively strip with paint stripper or a brass wire brush or wheel.

This shall also remove the laquer, so you would need to reapply laquer or expect tarnish over time. Like i said i`ve properly used this with great success on cabinet hinges & knobs made of brass. Presently good luck. Steve

In the meantime paint slathered all around the hardware, conveniently tarnished brass? Take off hardware, use aptly paint remover or denatured alcohol to remove paint, polish brass with Brasso, spray with clear lacquer.
Demoralize the enemy from within by surprise, terror, sabotage, assassination. This is the war of the future.
