Grease guns pump the grease in a 2-step action, because they don't have internal valves like a liquid or gas pump.
1) release handle or extend the pressure lever to open the high-pressure chamber;
2) pump the loading rod 1-3 times to push grease in the chamber;
3) press the handle/pressure lever 1x to push the grease out with high pressure;
4) repeat 1-3.

As long as there's air in the chamber you won't be able to build any substantial pressure.
It takes a lot of pressure to open up the little spring-loaded ball of a grease nipple.
So, cycle the gun a few times and spit some grease out of the gun to eliminate any air before you connect the gun to the grease nipple.

The youtube vid did not help me.
My problem is my grease gun will not pump grease like the the video. I could sit there all day long pumping & no grease will come out.
I went out and bought a new grease gun & seems to work fine so far untill I need to replace the grease tube & I guess no grease will come out again when I pump it. I'll have to wait & see.
I believe there might be some sort of secret to prime the pump when useing a new tube of grease?
Thanks

A common error is to insert the wrong end of the cartridge into the grease pipe. The end of the cartridge with the pop-top ring should point toward the pumping mechanism on the gun. The plunger cannot get past the aluminum ring if the cartridge is inserted backwards. Opening the bleed screw won't help, since the plunger cannot pressurize the tube. A day's worth of pumping won't make any grease come out.

Re-cock and lock the charging handle, unscrew the pump mechanism from the top of the grease pipe, and remove the cartridge. Re-insert the cartridge with the aluminum ring pointing toward the TOP of the gun. Replace the pumping mechanism and release the charging handle.

Loosen the bleed screw or press the bleeder valve to remove any trapped air. Gently pump the handle to see if your gun is now working correctly.
