I have a 2006 e250 steers stick how do i test steering pump,? steering has no play, or binds looks the pump or the steering box

to test the pump, while idleing turn the wheel left to right, it should turn easy, if it turns hard, then a problem, and if theres a some noise ok at end of steering.
