i have just bought my first ever camper van to find out that the seller had obviously put petrol into the water tank. However it is one with a small hot water cylinder heated from radiator. Is there anything I can do to remove it without replacing lots of tubing, pump etc?

you will have to drain the tank somehow then clean and rinse its lots of times to get all the fuel out.
