I small panel in a detached cottage that is fed from the main house by A #12/3. Because the cottage has not been used since we purchased the home we have never energized the panel. I am planning on making this space a home office and I want to upgrade the panel without having to trench or go overhead with a new feed. Is it possible to set a small transformer in the cottage to boost amperage and set a new 100 amp panel off of the transformer?
