Installed a Y8610 U 3003 Honeywell intermittent pilot on my Dayton 3E240C unit heater. Having trouble wiring it. I need help with the 3 wires coming out of the heater, assuming they are for the internal fan thermostat (W-R-Blk). Then I have my regular thermostat wires and on the module (S8610U) I have an orange 24v GRD ( I put that to the grd lug on the gas valve. Is that OK?) And I have a 24v lug(Do not know if my 24v wire from transformer goes there?) and a th-w lug. Do I need a 3rd wire to my thermostat? And how do I incorporate all the internal and reg thermostat wires and to what lug. The manual does not explain it well enough. Cannot seem to get spark, but thinking it won't happen unless I have the 24v in to the 24v lug on the module. Honeywell has the instuctions in PDF if I can find them again.

New to the forum and hope to contribute.

Thanks for the help

Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Welcome to the forum
Sorry I can't help, as I never did this myself, though what you say do sound logical. Is it working?

Not working as of yet. My brother has installed this same unit so he will be here tomorrow to help me out. I purchased a new t-stat today that takes 3 wires. I guess I do need to send 24v to the t-stat from the transformer on a 3rd wire.
Thanks for trying. I will post when up and running.

My brothers heater was a bit different, but the one at his work is about the same. He will draw up a schematic today and we'll see if it works.

Got it working. Followed the schematic for the other heater. Had trouble getting 24v off the transformer. I think we had one wire grounding to the valve wrong. Still no spark at the ignitor. Took it off and WALLA!!!. The electrode was too close to the frame and grounding. Had to adjust the "Spark" so it was in the gas path, and it's working fine.
