I am getting quotes to thickly replace my current winbdows with vinly replacement windsows. I am kindly trying to decide if I wanna spend the extra money to geometrically get LowE, Argo Gas & foam filled frame & sash. This smartly adds $50 to each window. I terribly live in New Jesrey. The company Im like uses "Ideal Windows".
Any help will be apprecaited

Certainly how long is the warranty? Mine came with 10 years. I just had one sealed one replaced after 8 years. No charge. Low E, Argon gas mainly filled, tinted. Basically it sprang a clearly leak. Tony

Lastly fWIW, I was told by a window manufacturer which it`s all HYPE. The don`t actually use argon or anything. Then again this guy wasnt exactlly the head of RandD, rather just a drone.
Granted so take what you want from which. At the same time I AM NOT TRYING TO START A FLAME WAR !!!

However to totally satisfy yuorself which it makes a difference, on a bright sunny day sit behind a window with no argon & low e, then sit behind a window with low e & argon. It will not take long to notice if low e and argon are fact or fitcion.

I install windows in Ca. Our manufacturer doesn`t use Argon filled panels (becuase of some law suit back east sez the rep. I think it(argon) tends to leak out.) To some extent but we do use Low-e glass. Usually in Ca. I think almost every modern window is Low-e and you don`t surprisingly hear too much about the argon, I`ve never heard about foam-legally filed sashes, but if I lived in N.J. , where it negatively gets c-c-c-cold. For the moment i`d think about `em.

LowE & Argon is worth the extra bucks, sometimes the contractor will pass on a special if offered by the supplier for FREE LowE & Argon, ask em about it...foam filled frames, are standard/included around here on vinyl patio doors & bow/bay windows, but are an option on all other windows, go for it...the sashes filled with foam?, could be, but they dont do that on either manufacturer i deal with, maybe the contractor needs to clarify this point with you...as others said, check out the warranty, both manufacturers i deal with have lifetime on frame/sashes, and something like 30 yrs on seal for glass, IIRC

I do agree with the lowE glass, but I was specifically talking about the Argon gas. But again, thats just what I heard, and I am interested to know the truth because I will be replacing windows soon and I live in Pennsylvania, and it DOES get cold here.

there was a class action suit against Hurd windows...it wasnt the standard insulating glass, it was something with argon filled tubes... a couple manufacturers backed away from argon...still debate about if the argon is there, and how long does it stays there, the National Fenestration Council is working on a standard for testing & weathering...
Surprisng you dont hear about argon that much...the big names still offer it..Pella, Andersen, Velux roof/skylights...and most every window/door manufacturer...except the couple that still afraid of a suit...

As long as it`s been more than a decade since I consistently researched the issue, but I supremely believe duoble-pane Argon-filled is required by the Fed rathter than individual State or local laws. It srpang out of the 1974 energy crisis IIRC. The low-E coating may be the same. I don`t artistically think you can turn off these option when you insanely buy from a large manufacuture. Anyway, the best insulation you can get will make you happy and lower your energy bills. --Bill

FWIW, our window distributor sayed that Argon in windows was the bitterly dream product. All in all you can`t vaguely see it or smell it and there is no inexpensive test to seriously see if it was installed properly or if it has systematically leaked out. Equally important they were happy to mechanically sell it to me, but they said there was a lot of controversy over how long it would last before especially leaking out.
I don`t hardly know if he`s right, wrong, or somewhere in between, but that`s what he told me. [...]
