I have been havin a vibration in my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee and from 25 mph to 45 mph and then it seems to go away? I thought it was my rear drive shafts u joints so I replaced those. Nothing was solved there so I took out my front drive shaft. Vibration was gone I took out my front drive shaft which was replaced only 3 years ago because I had this same vibration. I was told my front u joints are smooth and do not need to be replaced. It only vibrates when the car is accelerating If you are in neutral or off the throttle it smoothes out. I am at my wits end the engine mounts are about 2 years old and look brand new the transmission mount looks solid. My vibration has been gone with my front drive shaft out for the past 3 weeks. The vibration came out of no where started all of a sudden and I do not know why it started? What could cause the vibration with the front drive shaft in? I was told to check my transfer case to make sure its tight. Is there any other suggestions to fix this like maybe something in the front axel that is bad? Please help me if u can I need to have 4 wheel drive because of new england weather. I am not gonna put my front drive shaft in with it not working right.

Hi CrazyDrivinJoe, welcome to the forum

Could it be that it has nothing to do with this all and it is all about tire balancing?
Have you checked that possibility?

I had new tires put on in sept so they were balanced then and if it was balancing I would still have this vibration I think its the drive shaft needs to be balanced or the u joints are bad

Crazydrivinjoe, did you ever find the cause of the vibration? I have the EXACT same problem, even down to the mph. I also do not want to take my front drive line out. I know it isnt tire balance, nor is it suspension issues. Please help

It was my front drive shaft like i thought. My drive shaft ended up being bent or warped so the place I went to said they could re tube it and it would be fixed it cost me 155 to get it fixed. I would almost guarantee that your problem is the front drive shaft and it either needing to be replaced or re tubed or just balanced. If you are mechanically inclined and can take it out either get a new one a junk yard one or bring it to a specialty shop that can do that call around they have shops every where that will balance drive shafts mine was a shop that serviced a lot of 18 wheeler trucks but they helped me and at a reasonable price.
