Well, my first question must be are you getting voltage to the element?

Is this an electronic ignition or does it work on a pilot?

Make sure that it is getting proper gas supply.

I am having the same problem with my gas dryer (model 110.98752791), the dryer stopped drying but still runs like it is powered correctly. Would you mind sharing the link to the parts site & instructions?

Thank you!

JAB, why don't you place the link on the forum? That way more people could take advantage of it, no?

No problem, here it is.

I didn't post it earlier because I didn't know if it would run afoul of the commercial posting rules.

Thanks JAB, much appreciated

We have a Kenmore Gas Dryer (Model 110.87475120) that has quit drying. I dropped the front panel and started it. The (lack for better words) "flame" comes on and stays lit for only a few seconds and then goes out, not to come back on. My wife told me that it seemed to her that it has been taken a little longer each tme to dry a load. I am pretty handy so I thought I would pose the question: what do I look for. Could this be the same thing? Not really ready to replace the set yet.

This model is a whirlpool made for sears. their a cermaic ignitor that burns out lower front panel should come off ignitor straight back in side. its a plug in type.very easy to change .from memory may very from model to model some you can get to from back.

Any idea on a part number? I saw this replacement igniter on a DIY site and was wondering if this was what you were talking about. Link is below:

I can reach this from the front of the dryer after removing the lower front kick panel. One screw and it comes out. Pretty staight forward.

Ok, let me clarify things. When the dryer tried to start, it was not a flame but perhaps a glowing. Is that the igniter trying to ignite the gas? If so the gas is not being ignited. It glows for a short period of time and then goes out and does not come back on.

that would be the glow plug. its supposed to get cherry red. next time it glows give the gas valve a light tap if it opens then the the valve or glow plug is bad. forgot which one it was.
