We have a significant amount of mold growing on the surface of the floor joists in our basement. I can clean the mold off, but I want to make sure as much as possible is dead and do everything I can to prevent it from coming back.

Is there any readily available fungicide that someone can recommend to do this? I've heard bleach is bad for wood. I've seen Tim-Bor and Bora-Care but they both seem to be geared toward termites and dry rot. Scott's liquid gold is maybe a little more promising. Does anyone have any experience with taking care of mold on wood in the home?

Also, once I remove the mold and treat the wood with a fungicide, can someone recommend a good product to seal it?

Thanks in advance.

Inkieminstrel, there seems to be a tw-functional moldfungicidal sealant called Fosters - (you might look here but please don't see this as advertizing since personally I have never used it so can't recommend it specifically) - please click here
