Hello I have an lcd that is showing symptoms of not working. I've followed the suggestions via shining the flashlight on the screen and I get no windows background. One of the cold cathode tubes comes on when I disconnect the video source from the vga connection/rca (yellow) connection. Either of these connections causes these symptoms of the cold cathode tube(s) to turn off. I've reversed the Pink Wires on the inverter to determine that if the inverter was at fault and to my surprise the other cold cathode tube works as well just not both at the same time. My question is if the inverter is at fault will I get a display at all on the screen? Will I need to purchase a new controller as well? Remember that I get no display when I connect everything up and shine the light through the back or the front. I suspect a bad inverter but not sure. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks Lagacyj. This question goes out for anyone on the forum. Would there be any way for me to test out this inverter?

I'm interested in following the instructions Here but I want to make sure its not something else like the controller.

I'm attaching these pictures so you all can get an idea of what is going on.

Thank you very much hobbist for the quick reply. Thanks also to all others who have helped. Judging by my symptoms that I'm experiencing I'm going to confirm that it is in fact the inverter that is not working.

One of the other tests that I performed was placing a cathode bulb right behind the screen where the other cathode tube resides thus creating the backlight to illuminate the lcd screen. I would still not see any windows background but this makes sense with what Hobbist explained.

The good news is that it does get detected by my computer so I'm pretty confident once I get a new inverter that the screen will come back.

Some more pics to show how I performed the test.
