Hello,

I have an LG COMBI OVEN MC-806BL which just went dead, i replaced the fuse in the plug to no avail.
Is there another fuse inside the unit to replace?
There is a 'mains transformer' spare part available, could this be the problem?

thanks.

Hey there,
My mom bought the LG Comi Oven MC-806BL as well recently and she is having issues as well...

The LG Combi Microwave oven MC 806BL flashed up error code F2 while pre-heating the convection oven. Now it is not cooking properly on any setting. Is it completly broken? To clarify, the plate is turning and the light is on but there is no heat on microwave, convection or any of the settings. Basically it is not cooking/heating up at all.

If I had known about these issues I don't think my mom would have purchased this LG Canada appliance.

+12 yrs as a tool/die maker? good lord my friend you've had a busy life !

However, in the appliance industry it is a fallacy to assume any given brand 'shouldn't be bought'. Maybe back in the 80s, but not anymore. Even personal experience can be misleading (I've got a story if anybody really wants to hear it... ). And since frequently models change literally 1-2 times a year (in this age anyway), even 'known' failures are often obsolete before the issue is publicized.

OTOH, even great manufacturers produce crappy models, or even whole series of models (for example Maytag with their drum issues...OMG).

IMOAE, LG can make a great product, and make a for-shit product, but I've never found a brand, any brand that doesn't frequently do exactly the same thing (except Honda, but they don't make home appliances )

Of course what LG DID completely fail to do when they came to the US market was ensure that a competently trained service team was not only in place, but in place in sufficient numbers. Epic fail. Because as I'm sure you know (every good tech knows this), a bad tech is the worst thing you can do to a piece of equipment.

Worldwide, they do sales in excess of 44 billion a year, and throughout the world, they are regarded as higher quality brand, including Europe and the Pacific Rim. It's only here that they are regarded poorly, and largely due to their own mismanagement, not poor quality or design.

... there is no 'better' company (the honda comment was a joke). period. they all make design errors, and have engineering flaws, recalls, etc. What powers a good brand is how they support the inevitable failures. In other words their service departments. Warranties. etc. all that stuff that happens after the money changes hands.

A great example is the big 3. They've designed abyssmal products for 40+ years (though in fairness, the last couple generations of ford and GM seem to not completely suck... still drive like ass though! j/k) The ONLY reason they survived (and even thrived) was because of well trained dealer networks.
