When the TV was moved from one room to another, the TV then could no longer receive UHF channels. That is, the TV would only display channels below channel 20... Above tht, only snow and static. That's odd because it's plugged into a cable outlet, the same cable service available in all rooms. The same VCR was connected and everything seems to be exactly the way it was in the first room (from which it was moved). How do I get the TV to operate as it did before? (With all the same channels that that it displayed in the first room).

Hi JerryB welcome to the forum This is a real strange thing that happened to your tv. Illogical as well. Are you sure no set-up modes were changed by accident while moving the tv?

Jeffie: Thanks for your reply. Nothing was changed on the TV except for the fact that the original remote died some years ago and the universal remote that I now use cannot open the "menu" button, although it operates the off/on, channel up/down, and the volume and 'back' buttons. It operated well early on when I must have used the auto program feature w/the original remote and even later on when using a cable box that apparently provided access to the UHF channels. Is there any way to replicate the 'auto program' function without using an original remote or should I be looking for an original remote? But where to find one for so old a set? I really appreciate your opinions on this. JerryB

JerryB - the TV itself doesn't have a 'menu' button on its front panel?

Jeffie:
The TV has a "Status" button which, I believe, is the equivalent of what are now called Menu buttons. Unfortunately, pressing the Status button, either once or repeaatedly, produces no effect... Nothing appears on the screen and for all practical purposes it serves no purpose. I think that, failing to find some alternative means of getting the TV to 'auto program,' the only solution would be to somehow get hold of an original remote. Now, the trick is where could one find such a relic?
