I need to magnetize a nut driver (hand tool) and was told I could by wrapping a copper wire around the tool and hooking the other end of the copper wire to a 9 volt battery. And if this is possible, which connector of the battery, positive or negative?

thanks

Thanks! I know it was the "logical" answer, but I just wanted to check.

Connecting one end of the wire to to one side of the battery will do nothing. One ned must go to plus, and the other to -. Current will flow. The wire will get hot. It will make a magnetic field. The tool will be magnetized. The battery will run down.
The easier cheaper way to do this is to rub the tool repeatedly in the same direction over a strong magnet. A good source for these is an old hard drive. Take it apart with Torx drivers, and you will find some great magnets (with a coil between them.)
