Hello I have a 2001? Ford focus problem. It is a manual not an automatic.
Today I started it up fine, backed out of my stall and drove to the end of my block, a trip of 50-100', stopping for the stop sign. I only used 1st and 2nd gear by this point.
I tried to shift into gear and go but nothing happened.
I could still physically engage the clutch and still need to when I start up the car. Problem seems to be with my shifter? i can move it around into any gear with out the clutch regardless of the car being on or off, but it dose not "engage" when the car is running.
In short I can start up my car and everything, clutch "seems" to be working fine but I can't get into a gear.
Should I be calling a tow truck and a transmission shop??
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I will stay up to date with any follow up questions that you may have.

Hi, Sounds like the shift linkage broke.
If you can tke the consol from around the shifter off, and look at the linkage, or first look at the linkage under the hood, and have someone else move the shifter to see if the linkage moves.

Thanks for the reply.
I did some more searching and I believe you are correct. I'm going to double check with a friend as you suggested and go from there.
