My washer will not agitate on the wash cycle...sounds almost like it wants to but won't...then when it's on the spin cycle it agitats and then spins fine this washer is only 3 or 4 years old can someone help me please

i have a maytag top loader.samething happened.
check belt caution a brand x belt will not work exact replacement only exact part number trust me on this.they use belt tension made by motor for forward and reverse.one dir for spin oppsite for wash.
