Hi,

I have a medion laptop that is only two & a half years old, it has been getting a bit hot recently & sometimes cuts out.

Last week after using it I put it into hibernation mode, when I returned an hour later & turned it on, the screen came up all coloured lines from the top of the screen to the bottom, with a couple of white patches.

The laptop has not been dropped or has any other damage, could the screen error be caused by the overheating?

Hope this is enough information.

Is it consistent now, or is the problem intermittent? This is a common symptom of a failed interconnect. (ie. the video cable running from the video board to the LCD panel) A lot of times it's an intermittent problem. (the cable flexes), but sometimes it's remarkably consistent.

The cables are generally pretty cheap ($20-30) online. Of course the best way to verify this problem is to plug in an external monitor, and change your video to the VGA port. If the same problem occurs on the external monitor then you know it's a video card/mother board problem (and potentially caused by overheating), if not, there is something else going on (most likely)

Good luck.

Yes I have the same problem. It started about 8 months ago with one line then two then three. Over time it has generated more and more vertical coloured lines and is now up to 50 or so. It is quite annoying. I have a Medion 9700.
