I have noticed that my steering wheel is tilted to the left when I am going straight. This happened after a serious accident where the front right side of my car (2004 honda civic) took the brunt of the impact from a hummer. The steering also wobbles / vibrates a lot while braking at high speeds.
I do not know much about cars but i was told that the reason for this is because of a damaged or bent tie rod (?). Can the tie rod be replaced? how much will it cost? how does this impact the vehicle overall?
what are the risks involved in driving this car upto speeds of about 120 to 140 km/h.

Greetings Zjamal, welcome to the Forum !

Sounds like the diagnosis you got was right ! One of the Tie Rods is probably bent (stearing wheel tilt).

It's hard to say what a replacement would cost, depends where you take it (private/dealer) cost will vary. But, it IS something you need to take care of ASAP!

Given that you say it "wobbles and vibrates", implies that there's more damage than just the Tie Rod. Sounds like you have a Wheel/Rim bent too. You might try putting your Spare on the side of the hit, and see if that doesn't settle the wobble down. Then replace the rim if it does.

I won't tell you to stop driving the car, but, it sounds like you should till you resolve these problems. Continued operaton is going to take it's toll on the Tires, given they are out of alignment now. A real possibility of control issues, specially on wet roads.

Good luck and be safe !

Have a good Day !
