I want to plumb in a new Hot Water Heater but find it has PEX Plumbing on it now. Can I change to PVC at certain points so connections will fit. Thanks

I suspect you completed this project a long time ago, but for the benefit of others: Yes you can purchase fittings at Home Depot or Lowes, or any decent hardware store or plumbing supply to adapt PVC to PEX. There are fittings that require no tools, that work simply by pushing the PEX or PVC, or even copper, into the fitting.

Thanks for the reply. I did find the parts I needed at Lowes. thinking it would be complicated I found it was quite simple to adapt to.

It beat paying $215.00 to have it done. The Parts cost $26.00 and my labor.

Appreciate you lettin me know. Have a good Day.

I know this project has been completed but here is some info for others. If your converting from one type water pipe to another to be safe make sure the new type is approved for indoor plumbing. PVC is not approved in many states for indoor supply piping. CPVC and CPVC fittings are approved in most. Works the same as PVC but is approved for hot water. The need to allow for expansion in long runs and proper pvc securing devices are needed to prevent abrasions from expansion.
Have a good day

You know, I forgot to ask, but why change from PEX to PVC? PEX is wonderful stuff, easy to install, fewer joints, translates to higher water pressures where you need them, you can route it through holes, around bends, etc. It is simply great stuff! And as the other poster indicated, PVC is not for hot water lines and in most places is not approved for indoor supply plumbing. CPVC (the tan-colored stuff) is approved in most areas, but isn't nearly as easy to run as PEX.

You can rent the tools needed to do the job right, although the tool-less fittings work as well.
