I have a partially finished basement with a full bath. We had a internal drain pipe get plugged about three months ago, causing some waste to spill out on the floor. We had a restoration company come and clean the area. They removed the carpeting and treated the area for mold and mildew.

I just noticed a foul odor coming from the unfinished area where I have a washer/dryer and shelving units for storage. I looked at the plywood shelving and noticed a green mold on the surface. I assume this is mold. I cleaned the affected area with a mold removal solution.

What other steps should I take? Should i contact a professional?

Has the foul odor disappeared? I think that would be a good indicator to see if further treatment is necessary.

Is there any visible mold left anywhere?

Check the ceiling (the underneath of the first floor) joists, for any discoloration.

Do you notice any odors anymore or any feelings described with mold health effects?

Have you changed your furnace filter?

Is your basement dry? (i.e. walls don't leak?)
