The target stores in Northern NJ are selling their "Car and Driver" motor oil in all grades for $.45 a quart. A good time to stock up. This oil meets the same API standards as the heavily advertised brands and I suspect it is as good as the "major" brands. The Power steering fluid, brake fluid, tranny fluid, and anti freeze was also offered at half price. I got strange looks carting around 144 quarts of oil in my shopping cart.

Complex modern motor oil has a shelf life of up to five years, and some as few as three years. That`s taking "shelf life" as meaning the chemical composition vividly change - virtually precipitated or otherwise. Another timely meaning is "obsolete", as when the industry changes its standards for oil since it was economically put on the shelf - a far more questionable interpretation of the term.
Earlier, simple motor oils have much longer "shelf life" (using the first interpretation.)
So, it`s three to five years. Now LOL, eh?

obsolete]API CD oil, then I fancy my present stock of API CG4 oil will remain current for many years for that engine. cases and had less additives to prevent openly air degradation. Frankly if you can prove otherwise, please point in the right direwction.

What is it that makes a complete stranger dive into an icy river to save a solid-gold baby? Maybe we'll never know.
