My JVC-DVD Video recorder just stopped working. It is about 11 1/2 months old. I can get the tape to insert and eject, but the DVD won't work at all. Also, I can't get a tv picture. It turns on, says HELLO, then just stays that way for 30 seconds and then powers off. Am I just stuck to buy a new unit? Repairs cost so much they hardly seem worth it. Any advice?

Same here, JVC DVD less than a year old and when turned on shuts off after 10 seconds. Song and dance from JVC tech. Parts covered but not labor and must sent unit to them

i have been a tv/appliance tech for 42yrs. it is not a song and dance. the fact is their no servicable parts for general public can replace and most people are not smart enought to figure it out. dealing with a recording type laser is inherently dangerous.
so with that said you apparently do not want your machine fix that bad. jvc is one of those companys that protect their dealers. you send it to them or go with out. thats a fact.
