Getting at #1,3 and 5 spark plugs on this 3.1 V6 is tough. Looks like we may have to remove the alternator. Anyone have other ideas? Also, this car has the typical intermittant GM starter failure, prevalent in these years. Haven't looked yet but maybe that pan beneath is easily removed. Has anyone done this ?

you have to remove exhaust clamp where header pipe plugs in converter.the two dog bones bars on top of engine hold engine to front frame has to be unbolted from engine end theirs two smaller holes in dog bones to pin when you rock the engine forwad to the front of car.i have a chevy lumina with 3.1 this is the only way to get to the back plugs.consult haynes manual for ferther details.i had 1998 half cultass supreme also 3.1 done same way.
