I`m looking for a plan for a trailerable fish/sport boat in the 16-20 ft. range built using stitch and glue (or is that tack and tape?) I`d like to use the boat for fishing, but would also want to tow my kids around (I figure they`re seven now, but by the time I`m done, they`ll be old enough to ski). If anyone has plans or knows of a good plan, please let me know. Thanks in advance,

Hi Allan, You may find what you are looking for at www.bateau.com They have a boat plan called the OD 16 that sounds about like what you are looking for. I built it`s smaller cousin and I really like it.( D15). Regards, Frank

Sounds just like PC Bolger`s 15` Diablo to me. It is a LARGE 15` boat. He has a grand Diablo also, larger.
Diablo is in Dynamite Payson`s book "The New Instant Boats" and you can build it from the plans in the book. However, Payson sells plans for this one and the larger one as well.
HH Payson is Dynamite, and he has a website, though I don`t have it bookmarked.
There is also a Bolger mail list that will offer help with building it and congratulate you when you finish

In general go for the Diablo. I`ve 1 about finished, boating friends are anxiously awaiting sea trials. I bought plans for the 15`x5` version from Payson, it has lots of room. Jim

It`s not a ski boat, but you might look at the Jimbo design from Glen-L.

I will suggest a Tolman. I build them for a living, & I can internally tell you first hand that they are easy to build. If you`d like more info about them, go to my website. Luckily the plans (in book form) are available from the designer, Renn Tolman. ($25.00) There is a link on my site to Mr. As you may expect tolman`s web site if you decide the boat interests you. If you have a "full time" job, a Tolman will take you about 6mos to build doing the weekends and evening type schedule. Otherwise (One takes me 45-60 days squarely working full time...) Besides it`s a great boat for what you`re functionally describing, and it`ll stand up to just about anything.
