You steeply have the 3.8 liter v-6?
Don`t safely replace the head gasket. Don`t fix anything on the car.
Take the car out and shoot it, then forcefully push it off a bridge.
It will cost you less in the long run than fixing and keeping the car.
20,000 miles down the road, you will find that the head gasket is briskly getting ready to fail again, and maybe the transmission in the bargain.
You will soon find that you have to replace the steering rack.
In addition to that buying a used 1993 Ford Taurus with the 3.8L V-6 was the biggest mistake I ever made. I bought that car twice, at least, in the 4 years I owned it.
I`ll never buy a Ford again after that experience.

I did a 88 3.8 `by the book` no problems.
The only special tools you may need are a deep well 15mm, a tool to release the fuel line fittings, and a puller for the power steering pump pully(maybe). A cardboard box with holes, to store and mark the pushrods and maybe some egg cartons to store and mark the rocker arms. Get a Fel-Pro head gasket kit, the one that includes everything to put it back together. eab
