Hi all

Next year, my friend and i are going to drive to southeast asia through a number of different countries (20 odd) and terrains.

We wish to achieve this is a Nissan Micra K10 with 48,000miles on the clock and a good service history. We chose this outdated (24 years old) car so that A) less likely to be stolen doesnt matter when it dies C) its extremely reliable D) good fuel consumption E) low mileage F) easy to fix (because basic design).

I would appreciate it if no one would outline the dangers of such a trip... we know.

We wish to strengthen and customise the vehicle before we leave.

1) Raise the car off the ground by 3 inches: is it possible? Expected costs?

2) Re-enforce the structure: is it possible? Expected costs?

3) Add Bull-bars or something similar for front protection: is it possible? Expected costs?

4) Alarm Security System: is it possible? Expected costs?

Wicked cool.

I would raise a car that small up 4-6" for clearance (at least). cost? IDK depends on how comfortable you are DIYing it. Parts aren't that bad, but labors can be pain.

Make sure your vehicle is equipped with an LSD... it was an option, so I'm sure they are available, other wise you'll spend a *lot* of time getting unstuck.

As far as strengthening and stuff... brush guard? yes, full skidplate? yes. Twin chassis rail? yes. You'll need a welder and a bunch of steel. LOL it won't be pretty. but you'd be surprised at just how good spray paint works!

I hear theirs a rally following for these chassis, I'd look up a rally group and talk to them to...

Spares. lots of spares! Duct tape, self sealing tape, bailing wire, tire slime and youre good!

Have fun! sorry I can't help you with cost more, but where your at is going to be the biggest factor in parts prices, and labor costs...

good luck! send pics!
