Hi all, I'm new, just signed up hoping somebody can help me with a TV problem I have.

It's a Magnavox 27MT3305/17 built in 9/05

Across the top of my screen, and thick black "space" has developed across the top pf my screen. It's pushing the top of the picture down, and the top half inch of the picture is is actually showing upside-down.

As I searched the web, it looks to be something referred to as a vertical collapse issue? And it seems it's one of either two different capacitors.

Does anybody have any knowledge of this? Can anybody direct me to an online schematic, or advise me how to determine which capacitor it is that needs changing once I open the set up?

Are the caps labeled inside the tv?

I haven't opened the TV yet, I'm trying to do my research first. I can change it once I get it figured out which one I need to address.

Thanks for reading.

Thanks for the link Jeffie, I'll look into it.

Any suggested safety tips for changing a capacitor once I do figure out which one?
