I recently replaced a single handle kitchen faucet and it worked properly for awhile. Now when I turn it to the hot water side (left) it shuts off (no water).

If it is a single 1/4 turn mixer tap try holding the palm of your hand tight against the water outlet and let the cold water on and let it feed back up the hot part as it might be a form of air lock that you have. Also check the valve for the hot water in the hot press (if you call it that) it may be that the valve is turning in the on and off positions but sometimes some valves the spindle inside breaks and it is not opening or closing the valve although it seems like it is, it really is not and the valve is locked in the closed position. Hope this helps. Also some of the faucets/taps that are imported from the Chinese market are also dodgy.
