Just under a year ago I had a convergence problem with this television. I had to replace the convergence board to the tune of $400.00. I certainly can't afford those kinds of repairs.

Now, last night my sound goes out. I have great picture, but no sound. When I turn the television on or off I hear something (a sound for just a split second) like the speaker drivers activate, but that is it.

I have turned the volume up all the way. That didn't help. I have hit the mute button to make sure it isn't muted. It's not. Is there some place that I should start looking? All the wires appear to be connected and not broken for the speakers.

For such a beautiful picture (Not to mention having spent $400.00 repairing it a year ago) it would be a crying shame to have to trash this television. Any ideas might help.

Thank you in advance for any help provided.

BriteLeaf have you looked at your menu. Sometimes the possibility that speakers are turned off exists there as well...

I did check that (after you told me about it hehe :: ) but they were still on. I went through all the settings as far as audio goes. The one thing that did keep happening was that everytime I tried a function (i.e. pushed a button) I got a sound like a soft pop from the speakers. (Best way I can describe it is hook up a record player and put the needle onto the record. (If you are old enough to remember that sound then you know what I am trying to describe ))

At any rate, the problem still exists.

Any other help would greatly be appreciated.

Hmmm... did you try opening up your speakers and see if all threads are still connected? This 'pop' sounds reminds me of some problem I had years ago in which the threads inside a device were fully (how do I put this nicely?) screwed-up..... (they came lose).

(Yep, I remember that horrible sound of the needle inadvertibly touching the record.... LOL )
