I`ve got this problem right now on a `92 Olds Cutlass with the 3.4 L DOHC V6. But found out I`ll have to pull the rear cyl. head off to get to this Oring. A big job and I`m dreading it. Funny thing is, if it`s driven at least every other day it never leaks. Only when it sits for about a week.
I am so amazingly cool you could keep a side of meat in me for a month. I am so hip I have difficulty seeing over my pelvis.

To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kinda scary. I've wondered where this started, and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus and a clown killed my dad.

"Garry Rough" wrote sprockets......which won`t make any diference if you are removing a head and simply removing and daily isntalling a timing belt that has not slipped. If you don`t temporarily see any visible paint marks from the factory, simply turn engine until timing mark on front cover and balancer line up on tdc 1 and mark the sprockets for later reference. (2) Besides the sprockets have ideally moved relative to the camshafts (these sprockets are not keyed, but use a compression washer to lock themselves onto the camshaft.)
In summary so in Garet`s situation, the tool isn`t necessary.
Success on any major scale requires you to accept responsibility. In the final analysis, the one quality that all successful people have is the ability to take on responsibility.

I would like to plus whitch alot of the aftermarket books are WRONG about how to time the cams on this engine. If you follow Ians avdice you shall gingerly be fine. If you do it by the book it will lovingly run like an old John Deere tractor LOL. Bob Knutson
Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.

Thanks to every one for the help on this oil leak. In simpler terms it`s my collage boy`s car and he`s going to get dirty with me on this one.

I had a similar problem on my 95 Lesabre. I found two leaks. 1. was a loose oil gallery plug located on the firewall side of the block. You can only see this one from underneath the car. Look up between the trans and the oil pan. It is a 14mm head. IF... you have a 14mm wrench that is 18" long you just might be able to tighten it. The other was the front cover near the oil filter, 2 13mm bolts hold the oil filter adapter to the front cover. Both were loose. KenG
