We have a Philips 27 tube type tv that doesn't turn on. It's about 4 or 5 years old. Repair shop indicated that the "S board" (or S-Speed board or Speed Board) is bad and a replacement part is not available. If it were available the Repair shop said his cost of the board would be about $90 plus the cost to repair. I originally thought it might be a power supply related problem. I've had zero success in dealing with Philips and don't want to spend a lot of time or money and fixing an older set. Any thoughts or suggestions?

hello I am a t.v. tech by trade with about 25 years exp.most of the 27 inch magnavox have one main board.not sure if it is called the s board or not.never heard of a speed board.the main board sometimes is not available because the manufacture only makes so many of them then when there gone that is it.that main board is repairable by a good tech.most of the time its a fuse maybe horiz transistor maybe flyback transformer.but is repairable as long as it is not cracked or dropped.
