This may seem incredibly stupid, but I ran wire for a phone line that I need to connect to the punchdown block. The original wiring was 2 pair, but when I bought the house, Comcast came in and put new wiring in for the phone. It is now CAT5. I am trying to connect a 2 pair wire to the existing punch down block, which Comcast connected to, but I am getting no dial tone. I am using red and green from the new 2 pair wire. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi fas123 welcome to the forum

You need to place the black wire v.s. the green screw and the yellow wire to the red screw. Let me know how this works out

Thanks for the replie, Jeffie. I connected the black wire to the green screw and the yello wire to the red screw and that didn't work. I may have it connected at the block incorrectly. What wires, and where, do I need to connect to the block? My wire options are red, green, yellow, and orange. This is a 2 pair wire. I only used this because I had it lying around. Help! I need a phone on my second level and don't want to buy another 2 set phone that only need to plug into one jack, although I would probably be less aggravated by now.

Thanks.

Fas123, I found an explanation plus schematics page on internet that probably could tell you better than I can explain in words only. Let me know if this is of help to you:
