help..landlord put waste trap in back of his garage apt so he can rent it out. since he has had a tenant there we've had nothing but problems. i dug up the dirt around waste trap and i noticed that instead of the pipe looking like the kitchen plumbing(like the letter U it instead looks like an upside down U . is this right?

No it is not right .. The "U" is the seal to prevent dangerous sewer gases from entering the structure as many sewer fumes are carcinogenic and highly flammable
