Hi
I just installed a dimmer switch that works OK, but the other switch on the circuit, will now only work when the dimmer switch is on. when the dimmer is of the other switch won't work at all.
what have I done wrong, and how do I fix this?
thanks

YOU ARE GOING TO NEED TO GET A MANUAL WITH A PICTORIAL OF THE STEERING ASSEMBLE.SOMETHING IN THE INSTALL WASNT DONE RIGTH THEIR ARE SEVERAL PROCEEDURES FROM MFG TO MFG.I HAVE DONE SEVERAL SWITCHES ON TWO GM CARS CHEVY LUMINA AND OLDS BOTH WERE 91/S I CHANGE SWITCHES THE PROCEEDURES WAS DIFFERANT EVEN ON THESE.BOTH CARS ARE SIMULAR EXCEPT ON CERTAIN ACCESORIES.

I have the feeling we are talking about a household dimmer, not for an auto...
I have the feeling you've stumbled onto a three way circuit (since both switches controlled the light previously).
The dimmer presumably is acting in place of the three way switch (since a typical threeway circuit has one 3 pole, and one 2 pole switch).
Did you remove a 3pole switch? and does the light turn on at all when the old switch is off?
