I was wondering, I have a bad oil pan gasket on the car, very bad leak, and I wanted to know if that can cause a check engine light to come on because of overheating from the oil burning off the pan??? I had overheating problems before on the car, replaced the radiatior, thermostat, and water pump, and still it says it's overheating. The scanner reads that it's the Coolant Temperture Sensor, and I replaced that, but still the light comes on. If anyone can help, will be very much appriciated. Thanks.

It runs in the normal temp range. But I was wondering if there was a sensor under the hood looking at engine temperture that is making the car overheat but really it's the oil burning making the sensor say it's overheating.

is the car really overheating. is steam or smoke coming out from under the hood. what you need to do is replace the oil pan and replace the temp sensor.

Since you've had a bad overheating before and had changed a lot of things, you need to check your cylinder top gasket which is very vital.
