I'm planning a DIY project to replace a radiator on a '98 Ford Escort. From the owners manual I can find the coolant capacity for the car.

Question is this: Is the full coolant capacity stored in the radiator when the engine is cold?

Once I install the new radiator and fill with coolant am I done?

Or, do I need to warm the engine, allow coolant to flow through the system, wait for the engine and radiator to cool down, then check the coolant level again?

the coolant is anti-freeze and water mixed. you either buy 1 gallon of anti-freeze and mix with 1 gallon of water or go out and buy 2 gallons of 50/50 pre-mix. fill the radiator with coolant and run the engine with the heater on high to circulate it. watch the reservoir level. it should have a full line. if not fill to between cold and hot. then top it off with the 50/50 pre-mix.
