I am working with an RCA model 32F530T TV.
The chassis number is ATC113-CD4.
When I first started working on it
the set would only make a loud noise from the supply
when plugged in. I replaced a shorted HOT and bad
flyback which got the set running. When I first
started the set it ran fine for awhile then started
to do something strange (vertical foldover) at the top of the screen
(see pic).

It runs ok for about an hour then the vertical fold over
starts becoming visible and creeps down the screen until
it reaches about 2 inches.
I tried replacing the vertical output IC along with the
the surrounding electrolytic caps. I also replaced
a 220 ohm (R09) flame proof resistor that was burnt in the center
and checked the value of the other resistors in the vertical
section. I also replaced diode DF01. Replace all of these
with no change in operation.

I noticed if I freeze or heat the main (or jungle) IC the
picture will change or return to normal. The IC is a
TB1253CN. I was told that this was most likely "not"
the cause of the problem because its rare on RCA sets.
However I have to ask, Is it normal for this IC to respond
to external changes in temp this way?

Any help appreciated
Thanks

You’ll get no argument from me on that one. I don’t have that level of
experience on TVs because I spent about 20 years doing appliance service.
But I have spent time on TVs going all the way back to the CTC16 chassis,
and it’s a crying shame what’s happened to these guys over the years.

do your self a favor put in garbage.

I would but I already have money and time wrapped up into this
thing, so if a chip will fix the set then "this time" I'll follow through
and complete the repair.

That’s kind of what I thought, but people kept telling me that
jungle IC failure in that chassis is a rarity.

Speaking of the IC - I noticed that there is more than one suffix
There is TB1253 N, AN , CN and even DN. Are any of these
interchangeable with each other? The reason I ask is because
I notice the CN is kind of tough find, especially at a decent price, where
as the N and AN can be had under 10 bucks.

'freeze or heat" ... key thing is the OR. If temperature change makes it work, then you have a contact that is opening/closing based on expansion/contraction, aka a bad solder joint.
Pull the chassis out, and inspect the trace side using bright lights and a magnifying glass. Check near the jungle, but I'd also be checking near the vertical section. FWIW.
