I recently obtained an older realistic pro 2020 scanner. It seems to work, except for having to crank the squelch to the max for the scanner to scan through the frequencies. (any less than full max causes static and the scaner stays on the current channel.) Additionally, the volume must be set close to max to be able to hear any transmissions. Is there any sugestions that may remedy these issues? I was thinking cleaning the internal dials for the squelch and volume with contact cleaner. What are your thoughts / suggestions?

Is it the correct power supply? Check voltage ratings and current ratings. If Batteries try new ones. Sounds like not getting the power needed.
