I am renovating a condo apartment in Toronto Canada. We need to relocate some phone cables by a few feet. The cables are inside an interior wall which separates the kitchen from the living room. We have torn out the kitchen side of the wall in order to see the exact location and direction of the cables. Bell Canada suggested I get an electrician. I have spoke to several established electricians, who say they do not want to move phone cables. Has anyone ever tackled this type of situation?

Hi map558, welcome to the forum I hope you will like it here.

I think Hobbist might be the right person to answer this question, but if I'm wrong I'm sure S.W.Houston will know something to help you out

Hi Jeffie and Hobbist.
thanks for your response. However, I think your instructions pertain to phone jacks.
I want to move cables that run from the apartments below and above. I am on a middle floor of a 12 story building, so those cables run the height of the building. The cables have to be made longer so they can be re-routed a by a few feet. Specifically, the cables are runing on a veritcal slant. I want to the calbes to run vertically about 24 inches above the floor, then run horizontally for about 36" to the right , then vertically to the ceiling and horizantally 36" to the left and back up through the ceiling. I think the cables need to be cut, additional length of cables have to be inserted, and rejoined.
Bell Canada tells me to get an electrician. My electrician (and others) don't want to touch the phone cables and says the Bell Canada should send someone.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
