Recently replaced regular flood bulbs with energy saving halogens. (everything was working fine before, but looking to cut costs with new bulbs) There are two lights in the kitchen, I replaced one old bulb with the new energy savers...worked great, dimmer included. But when I switched the second old one out, neither new ones work. They flicker the whole time and when on the highest setting, they flash like a strobe light.....

I NEED HELP!

old bulbs - 85W 120V regular flood bulbs
new bulbs - 16W=65W 120V (marathon Classic 65 for use with dimmers)

Hi Teekso, welcome to the forum I am glad you joined us.

Have you tried changing the second halogen - with another one? It can be that halogen is causing the problem.

Yes, I have.

Things work great with one halogen and one old bulb. Thing work great with two old bulbs. Two halogens together - madness!

It may be too early to go with halogen bulbs that are dimmer compatible, I know this is a new feature.....

bummer

Well, perhaps a dimmer is indeed meant only to dim one light and causes confusion in the connection (wiring) when asked to serve two. Logically both lights should open and dim according to you turning the switch, but I cannot think of any other reason this flickering would be happening if, with the old bulbs everything worked alright.
