i have a ryobi gas trimmer model ry30020A
last year worked fine. this year took it out and filled with gas starts great idles great but when giving gas it will shut down. when i try the kill switch it will not shut off. I took the whol thing apart and cleaned it with carb cleaner, including the carb. pulled the fuel filter out but did not replace. cleaned the tank out. bought a new plug. same thing. any help would be great

maybe rebuild the carb. also check the kill switch makesure no wires are broken.

How old is the gas?, and is the ratio correct? if I recall correctly the Ryobis are 50:1 (could be wrong, check the manual)

When they diesel, a lot of the time it's because theres crap in the cylinder that's staying hot enough to reignite the F/A mix (since the spark is cut off... well should be)... to test, when it's dieseling, pull the plug wire. If it cuts out, then the problem is w/ the switch, if not, it's with the gas.
