I ran over a deflated ball with my snowblower and now the ball is stuck in the auger/shoot. I've tried to pull it out by pulling pieces off, but can only get small pieces. How do I get the ball removed? I have a craftsman 24inch single stage blower.

your going to have to remove the auger. to do so your going to have to remove the belt cover. keep track of the screws. then your going to remove the drive pully. the pully turns clockwise to remove. so your going to need something to jam the auger so it don't move when trying to unscrew the pully.

Unplug the spark plug and make sure you can't lose
a hand in the auger/impeller mechanism. Amputations
occur over 400 times a year, according to the
Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Download an online manual from the links or sites
I provide below.

All that said, Sears recommends sticking a pry bar
into the auger area to free obstructions. NOTE that
the impeller turns much faster than the augers, due
to the gearbox between the augers that connects the
impeller driveshaft to the auger shaft.

Therefore, try to turn the impeller with your pry
bar (or heavy stick) to rotate the stuck pieces back
out. Even if there were no obstruction, it is VERY
HARD to turn the augers, because of the gearing.

These filenames for .pdf (Acrobat) files are
the manuals for Sears Craftsman Snowblowers:

20-inch_4HP_Dual_Stage L0810227.pdf
21-inch_5HP_Single_Stage L0712482.pdf
22-inch_5HP_Dual_Stage L9060259.pdf
22-inch_5HP_Dual_Stage L9060266.pdf

24-inch_5-5HP_Dual_Stage L0208142.pdf
24-inch_6HP_Free-Wheeling L9050212.pdf

The engines differ from model to model. I have
a 5HP Tecumseh and the manuals are mostly for those.
Check the starter model at searspartsdirect.com,
mine was a tecumseh 33290D 120Volt (not 12 Volt!)
electric starter motor in a snowblower by
Sears Craftsman Model 536.884780.

All manuals describe belt, drive wheel or chain
adjustments, if relevent.

I obtained the URLs to the download links below
from hammerwall.com. NOTE that the links to
amazonaws.com (amazon.com Amazon Web Services)
have "AWSAccessKeyID" that "Expires", so go through
hammerwall.com to get a new download link!

The links to managemyhome.com were also from
hammerwall.com, but don't need to be refreshed.
(They should just work.)

Example of the first series of links to reach
manual L0810227.pdf (20-inch 4HP Dual Stage):

This is what I found on the web for all Tecumseh engines:
http://www.tecumsehpower.com/CustomerService/BSI.pdf
http://www.smallenginesuppliers.com/html/engine-specs/ tecumseh/Tecumseh_replacement_parts.pdf

and for my engine, Tecumseh manual 692509.pdf can be found either of these links:
http://lawnandgarden.manualsonline.com/ex/thread/view/ idThread/56433

or
http://toprake.com/index.php?module=documents& JAS_DocumentManager_op=viewDocument&JAS_Document_id=2

Most importantly, the last few pages in 692509.pdf contain cross-reference
between Sears Craftsman engine part number and Tecumseh engine model number!
