Greetings ty, and welcome to the Froum !

Try Scotch Tapeing a Penny on your doorframe, where the pushbutton for your inside lighting touches the door. Sounds like it's worn, and needs a little more push inward.

Now on the Battery going down, does this happen pretty quickly, like overnight, or within a few hours?

There could be any number of things drawing current unnecessarily.
This is a little tedious, but, you could try to pull some of the non-critical fuses out of the Fuse Pannel.

A/C, Courtesy Lights, probably a few othes and see if it stopped drawing on the Battery.
Take notes and sizes of Fuses when you pull them, make sure you can get the right one, back in the right place.
Look closely when you remove one, try to see if there's a little spark generated when taking one out or putting it back. That would indicate that circuit was drawing current.

Just make sure that you leave the important ones in...
Ign, Head/Tail/Brake Lights !!

Have a good Day !

This sounds exactly like my current problem. Now have gone through 2 batteries. There is nothing visible that makes me think anything is draining the battery. To answer a question, this does take a few months for the battery to drain down.

Now that 2 batteries are toast, I will get the charging system tested as I haven't done that yet. But, as I say, this sounds exactly like other problems.

Anyways, any solutions yet?

Thanks,
Scott

Definitly get charging system checked. Possible alternator is over charging thus killing the battery.

HI
same thing happen in my Ford Taurus, the mechanic said it was the radio draining the battery (thats with the car off) so he disconnected the radio and it seems to not drain after that but now I don't have back defrosters because the radio and the defrosters are connected. so I drive around in a quiet car with foggy back windows but the car starts up now.

Hmmm...perhaps your mechanic ought to disconnect the constant-power wire that feeds the clock and the memory directly off the battery rather than eliminating an entire circuit if he traced it to that wire......IIRC it's usually blue.

You won't have correct clock time or any radio presets, but you'll still have radio and rear defogger. That last one is a safety issue btw which would fail an inspection here.

Or he could address the problem rather than the symptom. Are you ok with him pulling the fuse and giving you less of a car as a result ?
It seems a shame to troubleshoot the issue to such a specific point and then use a work-around to deal with it. Are you averse to swapping out the radio ?

From what you've said here, it ought to be a pretty straightforward repair.
