Hello,

I am working with a Sony DAV-FC7 DVD player/receiver. (the model and serial tag says HCD-FC7)

The receiver itself will power up but wont play DVDs. In fact, when you set to play dvds the display goes black and there is nothing on the TV screen. There's currently one disk stuck in the deck right now, and the unit wont eject it. When I try to shut the unit off it flashes "standby" continuously. As I understand it this has been a big problem with these units, but this is the first one of these that I have run across. I can repair the unit but I'm looking for some information that will assist me in troubleshooting it. I figure that someone here has already ran into this and can direct me to which components that I most likely need to focus on and tell me if there any service bulletins for this unit.

Any help appreciated,
Thank you

Greetings Glen welcome to the Forum.

As you say, just getting that Disk out of it, doesn't quite satisfy the situation, but, ha gotta do that first.

I haven't gone through all the post, but below where we're Posting now, there are several links to other Posts, which have key words related to these of ours.

Try going through a few of those, and see if there's something in them, which may lead you to what you want.

Have a good Day !

I already searched the forum before posting and I didn't see anything addressing what I have. What I am
dealing with is very closely confined
to my particular model number. I've
been searching across the net about it
and it had become quite obvious that this
is something that Sony has had a lot of
trouble with. Given the number
of these that have had to be repaired
I figured that there would be a tech who
has already experienced working with one of these, and could give me an idea as
to which components I should be focusing
on in order to repair it.

Thanks,
