My 7 year old Sony TRV68 Camcorder works in every respect except one:
The cassette tape will not eject. Battery is good and AC adapter works fine.
I can record, play back and transfer to VCR, but I'm stuck with using the same tape over and over. My thanks for any silver bullets out there.

EDIT: Title Subject

Hi Zoomer, welcome to the forum I am happy you joined us.

I am not 100% sure of the following, but it is a suggestion I heard many, many times that have helped, so perhaps this can help with your cam's problem as well:

Open the door of the tape from the bottom and leave it open - Turn the power of your camcorder off and remove the battery - While the battery is removed, turn the power switch on and leave both the power on and the tape door open - and REPLACE your battery. This way, it is said, the tape should eject without damage.

I'm afraid that I don't know how to "open the door of the tape from the bottom." I can see a section of the camera housing which is attached to the rest of the camera housing by 4 screws. This section is mostly below the cassette door and window. On it is a decal which contains the camera model number and serial number. It incorporates two fastening positions for the hand strap. It extends toward the front of the camera with 3 holes to accommodate the "e video out", the "A/V OUT" and the "RFU DC OUT" jacks. Is removing this the same as opening the door of the tape?

OK, Zoomer I must have mixed it up with a different type of Sony camcorder. Could you try this:
1. pull off the battery completely.
2. leave the door of the eject area open.
3. reconnect the battery with the power already switched on.

I have read that this is something someone tried and it worked for him. It is worth to give it a try, right?

Worth a try, but nothing happened. Screen lit up with all the data there and everything ready to play (when reconnecting in player mode); and ready to record (when reconnecting in camera mode). I also tried the same thing with the AC adapter--no luck.
When all else fails, is there a way to disassemble everything that will come off
the front of the camera and somehow slide the tape out of the bottom of the tape holder?
