I have a sony kp65ws510 sony rear projection tv. We recently moved the tv and now only have sound, no picture. Did we break it somehow moving it? Is there a way I can fix it myself? Is it going to cost me a fortune to fix it? Please if anyone can help me I would be very grateful. Again just a black screen not even channel or menu will show up.
thanks

Hi Rhodygirl,
There may be no high voltage going to the crt's or no signal going to the video driver.
Must be some wires or connectors got loose. If the problem is a cold solder on the deflection circuits then you should be handy with a soldering iron.
If you are not familiar with electricity don't take the risk of tinkering with the engine of the TV as there are some high voltages inside.
Ask a repairman to perform a check-up on the set and get an estimate on the cost of repair.

It's the lamp. Rear projectors use a bright lamp to operate. Normally it will give a error "beeping" once powered up. Count the beeps and check your manusl. My guess is the lamp is not firing up in which cause the unit stops trying as these lamps may explode if faulty. It may just be loose if your lucky. They generally last 2 -3 thousand hours.
There will be a smaller panel behind unit to access lamp. Check it out but do not touch the glass as it is quarts and holds grease from fingures and will cause it to heat up.
Good Luck,
